Overview
Your circulatory system is a group of organs that moves blood and oxygen through your body. Its job is to deliver nutrients through your body. The blood is pumped to the lungs where it is oxygenated. Then it is circulated around your whole body. After it has been circulated around your whole body, it returns to the lungs to be oxygenated again. The circulatory system consists of the heart, blood vessels and blood.
THe heart
The heart is the main organ of the circulatory system. It has four chambers, two superior atria and two inferior ventricles. The left and right ventricles pump the blood through your body and the left and right atria recieves the blood that cycled through your body. Deoxygenated blood flows through the heart in one direction, entering through the superior vena cava into the right atrium and is pumped through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle before being pumped out through the pulmonary valve to the pulmonary arteries into the lungs. It returns from the lungs through the pulmonary veins to the left atrium where it is pumped through the mitral valve into the left ventricle before leaving through the aortic valve to the aorta.
The heart has 3 layers of protection, the epicardium, myocardium, and the endocardium. The epicardium is the outer most layer made from issue and fat. The epicardium has a second part called the epicardium. The pericardium is a 2 layer sac. The pericardium anchors the heart in position. The pericardium also holds fluids which lubricates the heart and helps to run smoothly. The second deepest layer is the myocardium, the muscular middle layer of the heart's walls. The final layer is called the endocardium. The endocardium has linings of blood vessels that keep the heart going.

Blood Vessels
There are three types of blood vessels, arteries, veins and capillaries . Arteries carry blood away from the heart to around your body. Veins carry blood to your heart from around your body. Capillaries connect the two systems together so the blood that has finshed giving oxygen which was in the arteriy can move to the vein to return to the heart.
Blood
Blood is a fluid used to carry oxygen and nutrients around the body. There are 2 types of blood cells, red and white. Red blood cells are the blood cells that carry oxygen and nutrients around your body. They are red when there hemoglobin is oxygenated. The white blood cells are of the immune system made to defend against diseases. There are 5 types of white blood cells but they are all made from bone marrow.
